TIBBETT & BRITTEN ENTERS POLAND WITH ACQUISITION OF "ISL"
Tibbett & Britten Group plc, the fast growing UK-based international logistics specialist, has entered the Polish market – its 31st overseas territory.
Tibbett & Britten has acquired Integrated Systems of Logistic Sp. z o.o. (“ISL”) – one of Poland’s leading nationwide frozen food logistics specialists – for an undisclosed cash sum. The vendor is Mr Stanislaw Zurawski, ISL’s founder and Managing Director, and the company has become a division of newly formed Tibbett & Britten Poland Sp. z o.o.
ISL was established in June 1991 in the Warsaw area as a wholesaling and distribution specialist. Annual revenues are approx. 8 million Euros (£5 million), and it employs 70 people.
For the past seven years, ISL has been active in the distribution of frozen food and ice cream throughout Poland from a central cold store facility in the North of Warsaw. Clients include many multinational suppliers and retailers – including Unilever, Frosta, Bonduelle, Dalpesca, Mars, McCain, Saga (Bernard Matthews), Makro, Geant, Carrefour, Billa, REMA 1000 and Texaco. Tibbett & Britten already works for a number of these companies elsewhere in Europe and in other parts of the world.
John Harvey CBE, Chairman & Chief Executive of Tibbett & Britten Group, commented: “ISL has inherent attractions as an established and profitable business operating in one of our core market sectors, where we are acknowledged powerful players. It also provides a platform to develop Tibbett & Britten Poland further and to extend our Central European operations into other core business areas. We hope to translate our experience, skills and customers to widen further the Tibbett & Britten Group presence in this region.”
Tibbett & Britten is the market leader in the warehousing and physical distribution of frozen and chilled food in Central Europe – including Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia – and has a major presence in the food and grocery sector in other parts of Europe and in North America. The British-based Group is one of the world’s leading specialists in logistics, employing 31,000 people in 32 countries.
