Ghana Post wins international award
Ghana Post Company Limited (GP) has been nominated by the West Africa International Magazine for the most innovative Postal Service Operator in West Africa award for 2007.
A statement in Accra signed by Mr K. A. Otuo-Acheapong, General Manager, Corporate Communications, said a letter copied to GP explained that the Board of Directors of the Magazine conferred the award for “the innovations that management of the company has brought to bear in the postal service operations in the West Africa sub-region, especially Instant Money Transfer Service (IMT)”.
The IMT is a domestic money transfer service where money is sent from one location to the other, through the network of post offices throughout the country.
The Board said the award was also to be presented to nine other West Africa indigenous companies and two personalities from the sub-region for their outstanding achievements.
Mr Kofi Dua Adonteng, Managing Director, Ghana Post, expressed delight about the award and said the initiative of the management to diversify its operations to provide vital and improved customer service had been recognized by an international magazine.
He said as money transfer had become a viable business enterprise, it had become imperative for the company to streamline its operations by improving its ICT facilities in this regard.
The presentation of the award would be on Tuesday, February 19, 2008
