30,000 PostFinance customers trade online

The financial arm of Swiss Post plans to continue increasing customer numbers by launching a new campaign.

Independent online securities trading is popular with PostFinance customers. Some 30,000 people are already buying and selling shares, bonds and derivatives electronically. 2008 was the most successful year yet for PostFinance e-trading since its launch seven years ago. Net funds of CHF 300 million (USD 252 million) were recorded from January to October.
The customer base has grown at an exceptional rate in recent weeks. Since the beginning of the year, 8,000 new customers have joined, 2,500 of which in October alone. The number of transactions also increased in this month to 28,000 – more than double the volume of an average month. A new campaign is set to increase the number of traders further still. New customers will receive five free transactions (trades) if they register between 10 November and 14 December. The transactions must be effected by no later than 31 May 2009.
