TNT Express opens new facilities in Eastern Europe and South America.

In Poland, the company has opened a 3,000 sqm road transport hub in the industrial city of Katowice to handle domestic and international shipments. The new centre is equipped with advanced technology, including sorting lines and a monitoring system, TNT Express Poland said in a statement. It is complemented by the existing TNT branch at Katowice airport. The new hub would enable the company to offer improved services to customers in the region and would increase its operational capacity. The Katowice road hub is strategically located on the main route through southern Poland from Wroclaw to Cracow, and on north-south routes between Warsaw and the eastern Czech Republic and onwards to Austria.
TNT Express Poland has also opened an office in the southern town of Nowy Sacz, its 27th location in the country, in response to the region’s economic growth.

In Russia, TNT has opened its second office in the southern city of Rostov-on-Don in response to rising demand in the city and the surrounding region, Russian newspaper Kommersant reported. Key clients in the city include IKEA, Puma and Adidas. TNT already has an office in Krasnodar and plans another office in one of the larger southern cities, the newspaper wrote.

In South America, Brazilian subsidiary TNT Mercurio has extended its network with two new depots. It has opened a major facility in Rio de Janeiro, including a 11,000 sqm sorting centre with 120 trucking docking points, to expand its capacity in the metropolis and surrounding region. The company has also opened an ‘ecologically-correct’ terminal at Santa Cruz do Sul in southern Brazil. This 22,500 sqm facility lies alongside a 20,500 sqm area of protected nature. TNT Mercurio is using the new facility to serve 24 districts, and has created 30 new jobs at the site.
