Taxipost wants to continue increasing market leadership

Taxipost, the express and parcel service of Belgian postal company De Post,
has put together an ambitious business plan. Turnover is expected to grow 50
per cent in the next four years and the small loss will be turned into an
operating margin of 10 per cent. An enormous market potential and increased
staff productivity should ensure that these goals are met. A turnover of
BFr6bn is aimed at in 2004. Taxipost also wants to capture BFr1bn of the
Belgian transport and delivery market of consumer goods ordered on the
internet by 2004. This ‘e-fulfilment market’ has an estimated value of
BFr9bn in Belgium.
If possible, managing director Luc Cloet would like to involve the parcel
arm of Belgian railway logistics company ABX Logistics in this success
story. ABX and Taxipost are highly complementary as ABX mainly processes
international parcels to Belgium, whereas it is the other way round for
Taxipost. Both companies know their goals. ABX has three takeover
candidates, of which Taxipost is one.
