Home Delivery Network Limited opens new sorting centre

HDNL has announced the opening of a new 26,013 sqm sorting centre in Northampton, central England, to support the nationwide operation during Christmas peak 2008.

Operations at the existing Crick sorting centre, which was opened in June 2008, have been scaled up to support HDNL’s nationwide operation during Christmas 2008. The Crick sorting centre is currently being used to distribute parcels to 58 regional parcel depots that make up the HDNL delivery network.

Brian Gaunt, Chief Executive of HDNL, said: “The new sorting centre at Crick will be a vital resource this Christmas giving us the capacity to sort an additional 10,000 parcels an hour, increasing our overall capacity by 20%. This additional facility will ensure we fulfil the expectation of our clients and their customers and deliver that Christmas promise.”

He added: “The centre is good news for the local economy as it has created a number of sortation and driving jobs. A further 150 temporary positions have been created at the site to support the delivery of parcels during the festive period.”
