Deutsche Post World Net appoints new corporate public policy head

Mr. Rainer Wend will assume responsibility for the group’s political co-ordination, environmental strategy and sustainability as well as corporate social responsibility.

Deutsche Post World Net has appointed Rainer Wend, who is the economic spokesman for the German Social Democratic Party’s parliamentary group, to succeed Monika Wulf-Mathies as the Head of Corporate Public Policy and sustainability. Ms Wulf-Mathies is retiring, effective April 1, 2009.

Mr Wend will assume responsibility for the group’s political co-ordination, environmental strategy and sustainability as well as corporate social responsibility.

In addition to the departments in Bonn, Germany, he will also manage offices in Berlin, Brussels, Washington DC and Singapore. He will report directly to Frank Appel, the company’s CEO.

Soren Deng, Head of the company’s Principles Policy Department, will act as the interim head until Mr Wend assumes his position.
