Deutsche Post announces Board changes

Wulf von Schimmelmann will succeed Jürgen Weber as chairman at Deutsche Post.

Jürgen Weber will leave the Board at Deutsche Post with Wulf von Schimmelmann becoming his successor.

Jürgen Weber (67), the current chairman, will resign at the end of the year after more than two and a half years. Prof. Wulf von Schimmelmann (61), member of the Supervisory Board, was elected as his successor.

After being appointed to the Supervisory Board in July 2003, Jürgen Weber was elected Chairman in May 2006. He had been planning the decision for some time.

“Now that the changes required to the Board of Management have been initiated successfully and Postbank and DHL Express USA have been decided, I consider the end of financial year 2008 the right time for a new chairman of the Supervisory Board,” said Weber.

Looking back on Prof. Von Schimmelmann’s many years of experience and excellent success at the company, Jürgen Weber regards the election of his successor, whom he himself had nominated, as a good and forward-looking solution.
