Nicomsat & Nipsot fit post offices with intent facility

NIGCOMSAT and the Nigerian Postal Services (NIPOST) have entered a partnership through which 1,500 post offices across the country would be connected with internet facilities. Hussaina Ato, Public Relations Manager of NIPOST disclosed this in Abuja while briefing the media on the forthcoming 24th Universal Posted Union (UPU) congress in Geneva, Switzerland.

She said that plans were in top gear to make NIPOST more competitive with it contemporaries, especially with advent of the GSM which Ato noted does not pose any threat to her organisation.

On the on-going restructuring the PR Manager explained that it does not means retrenchment, we are repositioning by swapping offices, there is a Bill regulating the post in Nigeria with the government, we want to have an organisation where everything will be strictly done on business. No retrenchment for now”.

Speaking on the UPU congress Ato described it as the most important international conference for all postal operators and provides excellent opportunity to hear leaders speak on all the current key issues including best practice, regulatory matters and increasing competition.
