FedEx would not comment on building costs, but comparable projects put the price for just the hangar facility at around $20m. The new hangar will house FedEx’s new Boeing 777 Freighters that the company expects to begin receiving next year in a $2.8bn deal.
“It is a hangar for our wide-body freighters,” says Jim McCluskey, spokesperson for FedEx. “It is quite a substantial facility, and we are on track with the construction project.”
FedEx hopes to complete the project in August in preparation for the delivery of the new Boeing aircraft.
