Swiss Post says it made a profit of just over CHF 500m ($428m) last year, but says that’s down considerably from the previous year.

It’s expecting a further decline in revenue for this year, according to director Ulrich Gygi.

In order to address increasing operating costs, the postal service says it will make increasing use of machinery. Gygi hopes moving towards a more mechanised system will save the company several hundred million francs, and says the number of jobs that will be lost has not yet been calculated.
