Lasker, who died in 1994, was an ardent advocate of medical research for major diseases including cancer, heart disease, stroke, and AIDS.

USPS said on 24 February that it will release the new Mary Lasker stamp on 14 May.

The release of the stamp coincides with a renewed federal commitment to biomedical research, including additional funding for the National Institutes of Health, which Mary Lasker helped build.
