Shop@Panasonic extends APC Overnight contract

Shop@Panasonic, a group of retail outlets and online stores based in south-west England that specialises in Panasonic products, has extended its contract with parcels carrier APC Overnight.

The contract provides Shop@Panasonic with secure and insured next day deliveries, which underpins the company’s reputation for rapid despatch of purchases, APC Overnight said. The retailer uses APC Deadline for a wide variety of consignments, including Internet purchases, customer returns and for sending products to other Shop@Panasonic outlets.

APC Overnight offers timed-deliveries to ensure that Shop@Panasonic’s customers are available to receive their purchases in person. In the event of a failed delivery the local depot calls Shop@Panasonic so that they in turn can contact the customer to rearrange. Furthermore, consignments can be tracked via the APC Overnight system so that both Shop@Panasonic and its customers can see precisely where the goods are.

Shop@Panasonic faxes booking orders through by Noon each day and APC Deadline collects the consignments later in the afternoon. The parcels are taken back to the depot where they are scanned and labelled prior to entering the APC Overnight network.

APC Deadline will soon replace Shop@Panasonic’s fax booking system with the innovative NetDespatch Velocity online booking and tracking system. This will allow Shop@Panasonic to place its consignment bookings directly with APC Deadline via a dedicated web browser interface. This will also enhance traceability as the tracking facility is integrated within the system. Once logged in, all that Shop@Panasonic will need to do is complete the on-line booking and the system immediately confirms receipt and allows the operator to automatically print the Consignment Note and Daily Manifest. The parcels are then labelled ready for collection by APC Deadline.
