Deutsche Post has offices searched

German authorities have searched the offices of Deutsche Post in connection with a snooping scandal at Deutsche Telekom, the prosecutor’s office in Bonn said.
Deutsche Post as a company was not the focus of the investigation, prosecutor Friedrich Apostel told Reuters on 13 March, adding that no documents had been seized.
The investigation centres on former Deutsche Post chief executive Klaus Zumwinkel, who resigned last year as chairman of Deutsche Telekom’s supervisory board after becoming embroiled in a tax-dodging scandal.
State prosecutors are also investigating former Deutsche Telekom chief executive Kai-Uwe Ricke.
Deutsche Telekom acknowledged in June 2008 that it had illegally monitored phone call records in 2005 and 2006, amid allegations that Telekom had targeted board members and journalists to stop media leaks.
The monitoring of phone call records took place when Ricke was CEO of Deutsche Telekom and Zumwinkel was chairman.
Zumwinkel’s homes in Cologne and in Italy as well as Ricke’s home in Switzerland had also been searched, the prosecution said.
