Second union rejects TNT post pay cut
Members of the second-biggest postal workers union, the BVPP, have rejected a new pay deal which would have led to a cut in pay in return for job security.
Members of the second-biggest postal workers union, the BVPP, have rejected a new pay deal which would have led to a cut in pay in return for job security.
The CNV-affiliated postal workers union has already come out against the plan.
The pay deal would give delivery staff a three-year job guarantee in return for pay cuts of up to 15%. Some workers would get a top-up depending on their length of service.
The wage cuts are part of TNT’s strategic plan to cut costs. The company is facing increasing competition from e-mail and other delivery firms which pay their staff as freelancers. The entire Dutch postal market has been open to competition since 1 April.
The biggest postal workers’ union Abvakabo still has to vote on the deal.
