City Link plans to invest £31m in revamping its operating model in 2009.

City Link plans to invest £31m in revamping its operating model in 2009.
It will be expanding its depot footprint by 20% from 2.5m square feet to 3m square feet, as well as buying new vehicles.
The company will return most of its 300-strong fleet of hard-sided trailers and invest in a new fleet of 280 curtain-sided double-deckers and 12,000 pallet cages.
As part of the move the company is also set create around 140 new jobs across 85 depots, including 20 new general managers as it moves back towards what it calls a “one depot, one general manager” model.
The Coventry hub will return to its original model, receiving only curtain-sided trailers with pallet cages, and the company’s Wednesbury hub will convert to the same model by December.
