SYDNEY, April 11 (AFP) – One of the world’s largest postal companies, Deutsche Post Global Mail GmbH, said Wednesday it would relocate its regional headquarters from Singapore to Australia. In the process, Deutsche Post becomes the third biggest international mail company operating in the Australian market.

* * * “Australia at the moment is the bulk of our business so it made sense for us to be here,” the company’s new Asia Pacific regional manager Gordon Lang told AFP.

Lang steps up from heading the company’s Australian and New Zealand operations, “effectively relocating regional responsibilities from Singapore to Sydney,” a Deutsche Post statement said.

Deutsche Post has customers in nine countries in the Asia-Pacific rim, and established its Singapore and Sydney offices in 1999, and another in Hong Kong last year.

It is Europe’s largest postal company and the second biggest in the world by turnover, employing 300,000 people globally to service 84 million customers, the statement said. End
