UPS to be significant customer of the postal service

United Parcel Service is going to be a significant customer of the Postal Service. UPS recently bought Mail2000, the hybrid mail company founded in 1995 by former Postal Services executives Paul Carlin and Gene Johnson. UPS spokesperson Peggy Gardner confirmed the acquisition but said the companies are not releasing terms. A few weeks ago, TNT Post Group sold its share in Mail2000 to current management. Gardner said the current management team will remain in place. UPS saw good synergies between Mail2000s services and UPS existing customer base. UPS was most impressed with the sorting technology that Mail2000 has developed and was interested in acquiring it, Gardner noted.
