Lucian Aldescu, operations manager of DPD (Pegasus) and one of the founders of Pegasus, will soon be appointed the company’s CEO, thus replacing James Gray-Cheape.
This is the second appointment for Aldescu in the past three months, after he was elected president of the Association of Romanian Courier Operators (AOCR) in March.
The net sales of DPD (Pegasus) rose about one fifth in the first three months of 2009 compared to last year’s same period, in spite of the market’s moderate growth pace, due to the economic crisis.
GeoPost and Yurtici Kargo acquired the majority package of Pegasus in March 2008, in a transaction estimated by market sources at €6-9m. The new shareholders are optimistic about this year, and forecast 20% growth in net sales, nearing €8m, targeting fourth place on the local market. Last year, Pegasus ranked seventh among Romanian fast courier and parcel delivery companies. The company’s main local competitors are Fan Courier, Cargus (taken over by DHL), and TCE, part of the RTC Holding.
