Deutsche Post DHL’s CEO Frank Appel spoke on the outlook for a rebound in demand for mail services during an interview in Hong Kong.

He said: “I remain optimistic. We had no up or down in May so it looks like we have hit the bottom. We have to be prepared for the next upside. I’m still optimistic we will see some rebound later this year.”

On Deutsche Bank, Appel said: “We sold our retail bank because we wanted to divest our interest in financing. We are not a financial institution.”
