By the end of 2008, the network of CTT-Correios de Portugal had expanded its network to 2873 post offices and agencies, and is now responsible for 98% of accepted mail.

The data issued in June by the Portuguese regulator, ANACOM, also reports that there are 3226 stamp sales point and 17449 mailboxes. The CTT network is responsible for 98% of the accepted mail, while the third party network (agencies and franchised agents) only has 2% of that mail. In 2008, the postal coverage of the country was 94.5%, meaning one postal facility per 3711 inhabitants.

An IPC statement said: “These results show the capacity of CTT to fulfil the universal service obligation all over the territory as well as the strengthening of the conditions required to perform its business activity, both within the domestic and within the international service.

”Following the tradition and as an outcome of the strong commitment of the CTT Group to meet customers’ needs, CTT-Correios de Portugal has once again been elected as a super brand in Portugal.”
