FedEx opens hub in Wisconsin

FedEx Ground plans to open a new 45,000 square-foot distribution facility in Mosinee, Wisconin, USA. The new facility, which costs $5.4m, is nearly double the size of its previous operation in Wausau, which was a 23,000 square-foot facility that the company occupied for about 15 years, said Allison Sobczak, a FedEx Ground spokeswoman.

FedEx Ground transferred all of its 75 full and part-time employees to its Mosinee facility, which has the ability to accommodate future expansion with 11,000 square feet. FedEx left its Wausau location, Sobczak said, because its employees outgrew it.

Sobczak said the company is not hiring now, but will take on a few seasonal employees for the holiday rush, which starts to pick up at the end of September and early October.

The new facility is part of the company’s nationwide network expansion to boost daily package volume capacity and further improve the speed and service capabilities of its network. FedEx Ground has opened nine new hubs since 2002 and relocated more than 500 local facilities.
