Support pledged to Watchdogs delivery charter

Retailers have pledged support to Watchdogs Delivery Charter proposed by the BBC TV programme for home delivery and e-tail operations. Tesco, Asda, Powerhouse, Sainsburys, Iceland, Curreys, Comet and Habitat have all said they support the charter, which Watchdog hopes will become the industry standard.

Watchdog proposed the 3 point charter in January. It states that retailers should offer customers a specific delivery time, with a morning or afternoon option, make a telephone call if the delivery is going to be delayed, and offer to deliver goods outside conventional office hours, including one day at the weekend. Watchdogs charter is being condidered by a committee of industry figures, including representatives from Marks & Spencer and Boots.
