Driven Carr promoted to CEO at Earth Class Mail

Earth Class Mail Corporation (ECM) has announced that Sarah G. Carr, the company’s president, has been promoted to CEO. Carr joined ECM in September, 2008, as chief operating officer and was promoted to president in June, 2009.

During her tenure as president, Carr refocused the company’s customer-acquisition efforts on small businesses and expanded key relationships in the postal industry. Under her leadership, ECM has added several new product features – most recently, in partnership with BankServ, the ability for customers to electronically deposit checks received in their postal mail to any bank in the U.S. ECM will soon announce additional street-address locations to support the needs of its small-business customers. This change of focus, combined with cost-cutting measures and improved operational efficiencies, is expected to boost ECM to profitability in the fourth quarter of 2009.

Carr has more than 20 years of executive experience as president of Print Inc., COO of Bowne Global Solutions, SVP of Operations at Thomson Financial and VP of Strategy and Business Development at the Thomson Corporation.

“Over the past three months Sarah has shown exemplary leadership,” said Jonathan Roberts, a member of ECM’s board and a managing director of ECM’s venture-capital investor, Ignition Partners. “She has not only made strategic changes that will enhance the company’s future, but she has also made rapid, effective tactical changes. We were very pleased to recognise Sarah’s accomplishments by promoting her to CEO.”

Complementing her enhancements to ECM’s retail business, Swiss Post Box, the Swiss Post-licensed version of ECM that launched in June, 2009 has been a strong success, attracting retail customers across Europe and considerable interest from global companies. ECM continues to work with Swiss Post to support the growth of its customer base among individuals, small businesses, and enterprises.

“Powering Swiss Post Box via Earth Class Mail is one of our key strategic initiatives,” said Frank Marthaler, executive vice president of Swiss Post. “We are very pleased to be working with Sarah and look forward to seeing her create an even more exciting and robust company as she takes on the CEO role.”

“My time with ECM has been very fulfilling,” said Carr. “Driving change in our product, market strategy and operations platform has been a terrific challenge. I have a superb team working with me. They are as enthusiastic as I am to keep the momentum going. We are seeing strong traction in the marketplace after just a few weeks into our new product launch. The benefit of using Earth Class Mail to connect to business processes is becoming clearer to our customers. Automated check deposit, legal proof of receipt and automatic downloading of content scans have become ‘must have’ features of our product. We will be releasing new features regularly to help the small-business customer save time and money.”
