Buyer sought by USPS

USPS is looking for bidders to buy Chicago’s old post office. The original $40m winning bid for the old post office fell threw. Instead of going to the next highest bid, the postal service is turning to bidders from the auction in August.

Mark Reynolds, a spokesman for the postal service, said: “We want to continue the spirit of transparency that we aspire to with the decision to go in an auction process in the first place. We wanted to make sure that everything was above board and everyone had an equal opportunity to participate in this once in a life time venture.”

Reynolds says the post office hopes to have a buyer for the 2.7m square foot building by the end of the month. The agency has been looking for a buyer since 1996.
