Costa Rica pacts with DHL to send relief to Salvadoran flood victims

Relief supplies totalling 4.8 tons have been sent to El Salvador courtesy of the Costa Rican government and DHL. The supplies are being sent after a devastating rainstorm on 7 November slammed that country, causing floods and landslides comparable to those unleashed by Hurricane Mitch in1998, the administration of President Oscar Arias said.

The humanitarian donation comes as part of an agreement between Costa Rica’s National Emergency Commission (CNE) and DHL. The company is dispatching its Disaster Response Team to help provide logistical operations for the delivery of humanitarian aid..

The supplies include blankets, diapers, toilet paper, sanitary napkins and cooking appliances. These are among the items on a list of needed supplies compiled by the Salvadoran Civil Protection Department.
