A new dawn
The next edition of Mail & Express Review features thought-provoking and analytical discussion as the world of mail and express looks to the future. The I’s are being dotted and the T’s are being crossed on the latest edition of the industry-leading magazine, Mail & Express Review. Complete with a brand new look for 2010, March’s issue promises to be the best yet.
Mail & Express Review has an American flavour, ahead of Triangle Management Services’ World Mail & Express Americas Conference, held in Miami from 22 February.
Post&Parcel’s sister publication features a Head-to-Head with Jamaica’s postmaster general Michael Gentles. The topics covered include the open market in Jamaica, regulation in the Caribbean, and the country’s retail offerings. On the importance of remittances, Gentles explained: “You are right in assuming that significant numbers of Jamaicans reside overseas. In fact, it is estimated that an equal number of Jamaicans live outside Jamaica as live in the home country, namely 2.7m. Remittances are therefore extremely important to the local economy, outstripping more traditional areas of economic activity including tourism and bauxite/alumina.
“In order to capture a share of this significant and lucrative market, Jamaica Post has partnered with MoneyGram to offer remittance services throughout the island. In addition, although we are not currently linked to the Universal Postal Union’s IPS remittance system, we expect this to happen shortly.”
In an exclusive interview, and certainly timely, Home Delivery Network’s Brian Gaunt discusses his company’s acquisition of DHL Domestic in the UK. He also answers questions on the sudden growth of the company, as it becomes a serious rival to Royal Mail.
Mail & Express Review also features an insight from SingPost, as the operator looks to become more than just a provider of post.
As per usual, the magazine will focus on technology in The Wright Stuff; environmental issues in Greenwatch; and in a new feature for 2010, a look into the past, called Back to the Future. This editions’ BTTF details the Rocket Post experiment, which certainly went with a bang. It really will blow you away!
