Letter punctuality improves at Swiss Post
In 2009, Swiss Post improved the punctuality of its letter deliveries, the organisation revealed. 97.7% of A Mail letters (2008: 95.9%) and 98.4% of B Mail letters (2008: 95.9%) reached recipients on time.
Swiss Post also chalked up good results for its parcel deliveries: in 2009, 97.8% of all PostPac Priority parcels (2008: 98.0%) and 98.1% of all PostPac Economy parcels (2008: 98.7%) were delivered on time.
Last year, Swiss Post handled some 2.6bn letters and over 100m parcels. 97.7% of letters posted as A Mail arrived the following day. The year before, this figure was 1.8 percentage points lower. B Mail single items should be delivered no later than the third working day after mailing. Swiss Post kept this service promise in 98.4% of cases in 2009 and delivered the letters on time. This figure was 2.5 percentage points lower in 2008.
If we were to consider the change in the percentage of late deliveries only, the improvements are significant: In 2009, late deliveries of B Mail letters fell by 62% compared to the previous year. In the case of A Mail letters, Swiss Post managed to reduce the number of late deliveries by 44%.
