Brightsource reaches sustainable savings landmark

UK-based print management company Brightsource has saved clients £100,000 on postal costs through meeting new sustainability criteria. Ten months after the launch of the new Responsible and Sustainable Mail Services by Royal Mail in April 2009, Brightsource – whose customers include Lloyds, UNICEF, and world Vision – has managed 10m packs through Sustainable Mail, and another 10.2m packs through Responsible Mail.

Eddie Sheppard, head of Brightsource’s postal management services, told Post&Parcel: “We’ve now met sustainability criteria on over 20m packs in the last 10 months. To have saved our clients over £100k, and cut carbon emissions at the same time, is a win-win situation.”

Responsible and Sustainable Mail offer tariff discounts on bulk direct mail that adheres to a range of green criteria, including improved sustainability, waste minimisation and increased recyclability.

Royal Mail recently announced that 100m items had been delivered via its Sustainable Mail service since its inception.
