FedEX’s Smith praises “brilliant’ Obama

FedEx’s Fred Smith labelled US President Barack Obama “clearly brilliant”, “likeable” and “very pro-business.” Smith met Obama during a recent job-creation summit in Washington.

Smith made the revelations during an interview with The Commercial Appeal. Obama is an admirer of Smith after saying he is “someone who is thinking long term”, whilst adding that discussions with the FedEx boss had been “incredibly productive.”

“He’s a very likable gentleman,” said Smith. “He’s clearly brilliant and I think he’s very — I’ve been asked this many times the little bit I’ve been around him, whether I thought he is pro-business. I think he’s very pro-business. … I think he very much wants American business to prosper.”
