Swann distances herself from Royal Mail role

WH Smith boss Kate Swann has cooled speculation suggesting she will take up the chief executive position at Royal Mail. Several media reports had suggested that Swann was the postal operator’s first choice to replace Adam Crozier – who has departed for ITV.

Swann said: “People keep expecting me to leave and it’s not happened yet. I’ve been linked to a lot of jobs, Asda, Marks & Spencer, Morrisons. I must have a badge on my back that I can’t see,” according to The Daily Mirror.

Swann said she remains “very focused” on her project at WH Smith, as the retailer announced a 2% rise in profit last week.
