TNT achieves TAPA award in Asia

TNT has achieved the highest validation to be awarded to a company globally for trucks operating on its Asia Road Network in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Level One is the highest validation that TAPA (Transported Asset Protection Association) awards in its TSR category (Trucking Security), demanding 100% compliance from participating companies and their suppliers in meeting stringent security measures.

This validation is of particular interest to customers from the high-tech, automotive/industrial, healthcare industry as well as those who require day-definite secure transit for high-value and time-sensitive commodities. The increased security hardware and processes benefit customers with added peace-of-mind and more efficient tracking that allows point-to-point monitoring of valuable commodities.

These measures are designed to increase the effectiveness of transport security protocol, urge the adoption of more advanced security and tracking technology, as well as provide benchmarks for training staff in mitigating security threats both en-route and while static.

TNT pioneered the Asia Road Network five years ago. Last month (22 June), it announced a further EUR 4.5m investment in its successful Asia Road Network, bringing total investments to date to more than EUR 12.5m. The Asia Road Network currently serves seven countries and 127 cities in Southeast Asia and China.

“TNT has developed a strong reputation for security on the Asia Road Network. In the last five years we have enjoyed the lowest damage and best protection rates in the industry. This has rallied strong demand from some of the leading companies in the region, including those industries which require secure, day-definite transport such as the healthcare, high-tech and automotive & industrial sectors,” said Onno Boots, regional managing director, TNT SEA & India.

Gerry Power, managing director, TNT Malaysia and Brunei said: “This certification is a significant achievement for TNT and a real plus for our customers in Malaysia, especially those operating in the high tech, automotive & industrial and O&G sectors who demand innovative, comprehensive and integrated security systems as part of their supply chains.”

In Asia, TNT already has TAPA FSR certified integrated regional road and air hubs in Singapore and Bangkok, as well as its regional gateways and depots. This means that TNT is now the first globally to operate a complete door-to-door TAPA certified- logistics network.
