CMS acquires Philadelphia production house

Presorting specialist CMS Group has expanded with the acquisition of a direct marketing production house in suburban Philadelphia. The Baltimore-based company, which includes Commercial Mailing Services, Inc., has taken over Direct Marketing Alliance (DMA), Inc., to expand its offerings in the direct mail field.

In particular, the move should strengthen the Group’s ability to run personalised mailing campaigns, thanks to DMA’s data-rich direct mail marketing services.

DMA, based in the Montgomeryville area to the north of Philadelphia, has been providing direct mail services since 1997.

It has the capabilities for data processing and analysis as well as printing and production for direct marketing campaigns, catalogues and conference mail-outs.

Steve Linsenmeyer, president and CEO of CMS Group, said the newly-acquired firm was one of the “most respected firms in the region” for close to a decade.

He pledged to continue DMA’s dedication to employees and customers as seen under the ownership of Pauline Gramiak, who passed away last September.

Linsenmeyer said: “Our two organisations share the same vision for how a direct mail marketing company should perform, in both delivering innovative marketing solutions and excellent customer service.”

CMS was founded in 1996, specialising in direct mail and marketing services including postal optimisation and fulfillment services.

The acquisition of DMA, for an undisclosed amount, came as part of its efforts to position itself as a competitor to the major direct mail firms.

It will also allow CMS to extend its presence further north, into the Greater Philadelphia Area.

“Philadelphia is a very small town when it comes to the Direct Marketing industry and we are excited to be part of the community. We look forward to new relationships and partnerships as our services grow,” said Linsenmeyer.
