UPS named in DJSI for eighth consecutive year
UPS has been named in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for North America, based on the company’s economic, environmental and social practices. UPS ranked in the top 20% of corporations in the Industrial Goods and Services sector in North America and scored above the industry group’s average in the three areas.
The company has now been named in the Index for the eighth year in a row.
“UPS is pleased to once again be included in the DJSI,” said Bob Stoffel, senior vice president, supply chain, strategy, engineering and sustainability. “We see this as recognition of our sustainability leadership and long-term commitment to transparency and of our efforts to balance the social, economic and environmental aspects of our business.”
The DJSI utilises a best-in-class approach and includes sustainability leaders from each industry on a global and regional level respectively, assessing issues such as corporate governance, risk management, branding, climate change mitigation, supply chain standards and labour practices.
Earlier this year, UPS was named to Corporate Responsibility magazine’s 100 Best Corporate Citizens; Maplecroft’s Climate Innovative Index, and BusinessWeek’s Best Companies for Leaders.
Furthermore, UPS was also recognised as a “World’s Most Admired” company in the delivery industry and ranked No. 1 in the world for its commitment to social responsibility.
