CONSIGNIA LAUNCHES NEW ONLINE PORTAL :: PR Newswire, London, August 15. This press release is transmitted on
behalf of Consignia. Consignia today announced plans to launch a new portal on which all its
websites will sit. Consignia’s 20 million online customers will have a single
point of access to the vast range of services available from Royal Mail,
Parcelforce Worldwide and the Post Office. Mark Thomson, in his role as Managing Director will be driving Consignia’s
e-commerce strategy, and creating the new portal is a top priority. “Making it convenient for our customers to access our goods and services
using the internet is my primary objective. By the autumn customers will have
easy online access to all Royal Mail, Parcelforce Worldwide and Post Office
products and services on one transactional, database-driven website,” said Mr
Thomson. “It’s an exciting time to be taking responsibility for Consignia’s
e-commerce strategy and my approach is simple: grab opportunities to become as
well established in the virtual world as we are in the physical world; Bills
Online(TM) is a great example of that. Over 500 million bills are paid over
the counter in post offices every year, and it is a logical step for us to
offer the same service online. “We have been handling electronic mail since 1983 and websites like Royal
Mail’s postcode and address finder get over a million hits every month – not
many dot.com companies could match that. “Bills Online( is a one-stop-shop for bill management, and in ‘two
clicks’ customers can view, pay and store a range of bills using a single,
secure, easy to use website, free of charge – and you can access the service
on any PC, in any home, at any time, anywhere in the world,” said Mr Thomson. Mark Thomson, 39, moves to this new role from his position as Managing
Director of Royal Mail’s stamps & collectibles business. Mr Thomson joined Royal Mail in 1984, working in sales and marketing,
rising to become Head of Marketing for the consumer and small business sector
in 1987. In 1993 he was appointed to develop strategy for Royal Mail’s
international operation in overseas domestic markets and in 1996 he became
Director of Service Specification at Royal Mail, responsible for the
relationship between the marketing and operational functions, and developing a
new customer payment strategy. In 1999 Mr Thomson was appointed Managing Director of Royal Mail’s stamps
& collectibles business which has an annual turnover in excess of £100
million. Mark is married with three children. http://www.consignia.com
