Estonian Post provides e-invoicing solution to government
Estonian Post has signed an agreement to provide e-invoicing services to the country’s government. The operator will provide the solution in partnership with the Estonian Ministry of Finance, and the Post’s sister company Estonian eInvoicing Centre (www.arvekeskus.ee).
The signed service contract – offering e-invoicing to government agencies, easing its administrative burden – will be valid until 2013.
The first government agencies to handle e-invoices will be the Ministry of Finance itself, and the Ministry of Justice.
The move forms a part of the Information Society Action Plan and the Ministry of Finance’s centralisation project, which started in 2010.
This will be implemented into the everyday working environment on 1 March 2011.
The aim is to have e-invoices available for all state agencies.
Chairman of the Board of Estonian Post, Ahti Kallaste, said: “We believe that we offer the best technological solution in Estonia to the state for processing e-invoices.
“Since creation of Estonian eInvoicing Centre the number of users in both public and business sector has steadily increased.
“Last year the number of users increased almost seven fold. It shows the recognising of added value of the service.”
State agencies will eventually stop sending paper invoices altogether, it was confirmed.
