"Direct mail in Japan could be delivered by private delivery firms"

Direct mail in Japan could be delivered by private delivery firms if plans to privatise the postal service in 2003 go ahead. Mail delivery is currently handled by the state post office, but proponents of the plans wish to open up the service to private parcel- delivery companies. Observers claim the ministry will only agree to collection and delivery of letters above a certain weight to the private sector.
