Digital letterbox piloted

Some 6,000 people in the Netherlands are piloting a new electronic letterbox scheme launched by PTT, the postal services arm of TPG. A major power firm, a cable TV company and a medical insurance company are to take part in the trial, called Privver, which will mean customers can pay their bills electronically from anywhere in the world. Privver is free of charge for the recipient because, like normal postal transactions, the sender pays for the post. PTT Post will evaluate the pilot project before deciding whether to roll out Privver nationwide towards the end of this year.
