DHL enters deal with Swedish construction group

Skanska Stomsystem, the Swedish project development and construction group, has signed a new contract with DHL Freight, worth about EUR 17m. The agreement, which runs for three years with an option to extend, covers all shipments of prefabricated concrete elements from Skanska’s factories in Bollebygd and Strängnäs within Sweden.

DHL Freight will be investing in some 30 new trailers to satisfy their special transport needs.

In addition DHL Freight and Skanska will shortly be launching a number of additional joint projects in the areas of environment, safety and administration.

“We look forward to the new partnership with Skanska. The transportation of prefabricated concrete elements will be a new business segment for DHL Freight with a great potential for development. Together with Skanska we will be creating new solutions in this specific area,” said Stefan Nilsson, CEO, DHL Freight Nordics & Sweden.

Joakim Gullmark, purchasing manager for Skanska Stomsystem AB, said: “Skanska Stomsystem is about to grow substantially in terms of sales and will be increasing the number of shipments in the next couple of years.

“In order to handle this growth, it was of the utmost importance for our forwarder to be able to meet and secure the capacity requirements we are faced with.

“Our overall impression is that we will be a priority customer in DHL Freight’s new segment, and that DHL Freight is the partner that best matches and meets Skanska’s level of ambition.”
