German Parcel does not plan to expand private customer business (German Parcel halt nicht viel vom Privatkundengeschaft)

German Parcel Paket-Logistik GmbH & Co OHG, a subsidiary of UK-based
Consignia, does not plan to expand parcel delivery services for
private customers in view of strong competition from Deutsche Post,
which offers services below production costs. However, it aims for
third place on the European parcel deliveries market, and also plans
to develop logistics activities. For business year 2000/01 (to March 31), German Parcel reports
turnover of DM780m and 110 million parcels delivered. It aims for
turnover of DM820m for 2001/02, and also hopes to reduce the number
of parcels damaged in transit, which last stood at 10,000. The
company plans to retain its interest of around 10 per cent in rival
