DB Schenker earns Marshall Aerospace extension

UK-based Marshall Aerospace has awarded a new three year contract to DB Schenker to provide logistics services for the movement of aircraft parts for both civil and military aircraft. Schenker Limited, the UK arm of the global logistics provider, has worked with Marshall Aerospace for the last six years and this new contract is both a renewal and expansion of their existing working relationship.

Shipments being moved consist predominantly of components – both inbound and outbound – between North America and the UK with the majority weighing less than 50kg.

The shipments comprise a mixture of urgent parts and spares which could stop a production line as well as regular stock items which need to be retained at the company’s headquarters.

Many are of a time sensitive nature and Schenker Limited employs staff in its Aeroparts division at London Heathrow to meet Marshall’s exacting requirements where precise door to door transit times are required.

“Our relationship is based on integrity,” said Schenker Limited’s commercial director, David Harrison.  “When working for a company like Marshall Aerospace we need to have a two way relationship where they can trust us implicitly to deliver precisely what they require.  They measure us keenly but at the same time allow us to make recommendations about key areas where service improvements can be introduced”.

Paul Phillips, purchasing manager, Marshall Aerospace, said: “Working in an aerospace MRO creates additional pressures on our supply chain. It is key to contract the right logistics service provider that is able to provide an efficient and effective solution and can also adjust to a reactive and changing environment.  Renewing our contract with DB Schenker to provide this service to Marshall Aerospace is testament to how they fulfill this role.”
