Kuschel to head up DHL Express’ UK sales effort

Neil Kuschel has been appointed as director of sales for DHL Express UK.

The move comes as the result of “significant growth for DHL’s international express service”, the company said, adding that Kuschel’s appointment will “bolster the sales force in the UK”.

Kuschel said: “The UK DHL Express business has performed well in recent months and I aim to build on this success. A key sector for our business is the internationally expanding SME market. These companies don’t tend to have dedicated logistics teams in place, which gives us an opportunity to provide them with the high levels of service they require to trade on the global stage.

“Ultimately this will allow them to concentrate on their core competency, leaving us to facilitate their international trade; giving them the advice and local knowledge to be able to grow.”

Kuschel was previously based in DHL’s Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) head office in Cape Town, South Africa where he was responsible for the strategic development of sales, marketing and customer service functions for 49 countries in that area.

He oversaw a “very successful” period in the SSA region, with revenue in that region currently growing in double digits and at its highest ever level.

Phil Couchman, CEO of DHL Express UK & Ireland added: “Neil’s appointment is a strategic move to ensure continued growth for DHL in the UK. The UK is an important market for us, which will see ongoing investment in the coming months and years. By making the right investments in people and infrastructure, we can continue to offer clients the exceptional levels of service they have come to expect.”

Kuschel has been with DHL for 13 years – the majority of which was based in the Middle East. Starting as a Field Sales Executive in Bahrain, Neil has worked across the UAE in numerous roles before being appointed national sales and marketing manager in 2006, his last role before moving to SSA.
