Fast expansion led to Eurovos demise
A Dutch transport operator and forwarder with a turnover of G250m (E112m) has been forced into receivership.
Intermodal foodstuffs and bulk chemicals specialist Eurovos XL said it had financial problems because it was expanding its business activities too fast.
Dutch logistics and transport association KNY said there had been an increased number of transport companies going down in the last year in the Netherlands, but that Eurovos did not fit into this pattern.
Ruland Tameling, secretary at KNV, said: “There are not many companies of that size
that go bankrupt. Eurovos became a really large player very quickly. Everybody thought it was incredible what they were achieving.”
Sources in the Netherlands also said it was not the first time that Eurovos MD Geert
Vos had been in a bankrupt company.
Eurovos said negotiations are currently taking place with suppliers, with the company hoping to restart, probably under a different name, if part payment of invoices could be agreed.
The company was set up in 1991, and has a fleet of 400 trucks and 2,200 tank containers.
