Small price increase at MaltaPost

MaltaPost has confirmed it has increased the price of sending a domestic letter. The operator introduced a EUR 0.01 price increase on single piece domestic mail weighing up to 50g, after plans were given the green light by the Malta Communications Authority (MCA).

The increase came into force last Friday (July 29).

MaltaPost said that bulk mail rates for items up to 50g will not be affected and will remain unchanged at EUR 0.19.

A spokesperson said: “In terms of the Bulk Mail Scheme approved by the MCA and published in 2010: bulk mail is defined as postal articles consisting of 50 items or more, pertaining to the same postal service, being of identical format, size and of the same weight step, deposited with MaltaPost without affixing any postage stamps.”

MCA has also approved an increase in the outbound parcel tariffs to the UK, Italy, Germany, France, Spain and The Netherlands.
