Transland Group celebrates shipping one millionth pallet

Irish logistics firm Transland Group has delivered its one millionth pallet through its hub in Naas, County Kildare. The company, a member of European express delivery network Palletways, celebrated the achievement an an event featuring the Palletways hot air balloon, the UK’s only hot-air balloon with a glass-bottomed basket.

Transland Group specialises in transport and logistics for palletised freight traveling between the UK and Ireland, and has carved out a particular niche as a major distributor of magazines on the route.

The company was founded in 1992 and was appointed as the Southern Ireland representative for the Palletways network last year.

It said the partnership with Palletways had been “instrumental” since then in accelerating its progress towards delivering its one millionth Irish pallet.

Kieran Conlon, Managing Director of Transland Group, said: “We at Transland are very proud to have reached this milestone. We have all worked hard to establish a pallet distribution service that is second to none, through service features such as online booking and electronic proof of delivery.

“With the help of Palletways, we look forward to achieving our next milestone, which is the two millionth pallet delivery,” added Conlon.

The Palletways UK network has more than 100 members providing a range of express distribution services for small consignments of palletised freight, including next day, economy and timed delivery options across the UK and Ireland.

The network also offers daily cross-Channel distribution service to mainland Europe.

Member companies can make use of the resources of other member companies to deliver goods across Europe, with the network now featuring 280 depots and 9 hubs, providing collection and distribution services across 11 European countries: Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Transland has offices at its Naas home base and also in the UK at Birkenhead. The company launched the PalletXpress network in 2004, a partnership providing next-day domestic services across Ireland, while in November 2010 it launche da new online quotation and booking system on its website.
