Palletways network expands in UK's West Midlands region
The European express delivery network Palletways has expanded into the UK city of Birmingham with the launch of a new logistics company, Palletways Birmingham. The Palletways Group said its expansion into the area responded to a “significant increase” in demand for express delivery services for palletised freight.
The new operation has created 10 positions including drivers, office and sales staff.
Based at a hub just north of Birmingham, in Lichfield, it will service locations around the West Midlands, including Dudley, Kidderminster, Sedgley, Tipton, Brierley Hill, Kingswinford, Stourport-on-Severn, Brierley Hill and Stourbridge.
Michelle Naylor, general manager of Palletways Birmingham, said: “Our expansion to the heart of the Black Country is a very exciting development for the business. We specialise in providing the total logistics solution tailored to the needs of each customer, enabling businesses to make cost efficiencies within their supply chain.
“Businesses in the region will now benefit from our wide range of services, which covers next day and economy UK deliveries, full loads and part loads, track and trace, storage, pick and pack and distribution to multiple delivery points in the UK and mainland Europe,” she added.
The Palletways Group now boasts 280 depots and nine hub operations, including independent transport companies who share the resources of the network to collect and deliver items across 11 European countries – Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Spain and the United Kingdom.
Specialising in small consignments, the network handles up to 21,000 pallets daily across its operations.
The launch of the new Birmingham branch was marked last week with a celebration involving the Palletways glass-bottomed hot-air balloon.
