Geodis Ciblex acquires GLS France overnight delivery division

GLS France has sold its overnight delivery business InNight to Geodis Ciblex, the express parcels subsidiary of SNCF-owned logistics group Geodis. The deal, for an undisclosed sum, comes as part of a new pan-European strategy by GLS to refocus its activities on daytime and express parcel deliveries, it said this week.

Emeric Bastid, managing director of GLS France, confirmed: “In the future we will be focusing on our key business, namely daytime express parcel deliveries – across Europe.”

InNight specialises in overnight deliveries for the optics and space parts sector.

It provides delivery of documents, mail bags, parcels or small containers to secure drop-off points before 9am.

The two companies are to work together to transfer the operation over to Geodis, which is expected to take effect November 26.

Geodis said adding the new unit would help broaden its offering in the French overnight delivery market.

Jean-Louis Demeulenaere, CEO of the Geodis group, said: “This transaction significantly boosts the existing expertise of Geodis Ciblex in overnight deliveries across France, especially through its H Night offering and will enable us to accelerate our development in the optics and spare parts sectors.”
