Privatisation of the Jordanian Postal Service

A-Dustour newspaper reported on the continued carrying out of the government privatization plan which began in 1996. The paper quoted the General Manager of the Privatization Authority, ‘Adil Al-Qadha, who told the paper in mid-May 2001 that privatization of the postal service has begun and the government intends to sell part of the post office shares in the private market. A special unit has been formed in the Authority to rearrange the whole communications sector financial, professional, and legal guidelines which the government will use in carrying out the privatization of the postal service.
