trans-o-flex ThermoMed expands network into Denmark

Austria Post’s German express carrier Trans-o-Flex is expanding the activities of its pharmaceutical logistics unit ThermoMed into Denmark. trans-o-flex ThermoMed has signed a co-operation deal with Danish express delivery provider 3D Logistik that will take effect from next month.

The companies said their partnership will mean nationwide pick-up and delivery services for temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals, with active temperature-control systems to maintain shipments at conditions between two degrees and eight degrees.

The Danish operation will link in with the trans-o-flex ThermoMed network spanning Germany, Austria, the Benelux countries and France.

Carsten Glos, managing director of trans-o-flex ThermoMed, said: “Expanding our network to Denmark is not only important because it enables us to serve more customers. Active temperature control also offers our customers clearly more flexibility and safety, especially where it concerns long international routes.”

trans-o-flex said its active temperature control system means pharmaceuticals do not need to be placed in special packaging for temperature-sensitive goods, cutting shipment costs.

The system also means transportation windows can be longer, adding flexibility during weekend deliveries and where wrong addresses or return transports are involved, it said.

3D Logistik has sites in Kolding, Glostrup and Aalborg, providing night express and 24-hour deliveries across Denmark with a fleet of 70 vehicles.
