Parcel pick-up network expanded in Poland
Polish Post has added a further 34 post offices to its “E-Delivery” network of parcel collection points, which now number 1,544.
The service allows customers to collect their packages from a nearby post office after receiving a text message or email alert about the package’s arrival.
Most customers using the service are internet shoppers, who can arrange a convenient pick-up during the working day, said Polish Post, adding that it is continually expanding its network of pick-up locations.
Algeria Post to develop national address database
Algeria Post is planning to establish a new national database of addresses as part of its nationwide efforts to improve addressing and extend use of the country’s post code.
The Post said last week it hope the database will help mail customers improve their addressing, and thereby improve the operations of the postal service’s new sorting equipment, for which the country’s postal code was created.
Algerian Post said it is urging customers to enter addresses under the standards recommended by the Universal Postal Union in order to ensure better functioning of the sorting machine. The new database will also help the postal service itself to improve management of its customer accounts.
CorreosChile expands post office network
CorreosChile is in the process of opening 15 new post offices in 13 municipalities to expand access to postal services from mail and parcel delivery to money orders.
The postal service of Chile said the new branches represented a 7% growth in its branch network, which now provides access to 1.9m people. Three new post offices were opened last month, with the remaining 12 to be added in January 2012.
CorreosChile general manager Pablo Montané said: “This achievement meets the goal of ensuring access across Chile through an efficient network of retail branches, which further strengthens our distribution network nationally and internationally.”
China Post opens cross-border parcel link to Kazakhstan
According to the Chinese State Post Bureau, China Post is opening a new parcel service link to Kazakhstan this month.
It has signed a cooperation deal with KazPost to open up the route into Kazakhstan from the city of Urumqi in the Xinjiang region, the largest city in China’s western interior. It means China and Kazakhstan now have five border crossings along their 1,700-kilometre border.
The latest deal follows on from a 2010 agreement between the two countries pledging to open up trade links and increase the flow of people, goods and capital between China and Kazakhstan.
